The name "hermètic art" is a profound nod to the ancient Greek deity Hermes,
celebrated as the messenger of the gods, the patron of commerce and trade,
and the master of wisdom and ingenuity.
In its original context, "Hermetic" carries the meaning of "alchemy."
Our brand draws a symbolic parallel between the ancient alchemists' relentless quest for
gold and the meticulous craft of perfumery,
where diverse ingredients are harmoniously blended and balanced to achieve olfactory perfection.
We have thus chosen "hermètic art" to encapsulate this art of transformation through scent.
Our Korean company name, "연향," further reinforces this connection to the alchemical arts.
It is a deliberate combination of two characters:
"鍊" (yeon), extracted from the word for alchemy, meaning "to refine"
"香" (hyang), signifying "fragrance" or "scent."
Therefore, "연향" can be eloquently interpreted as "the refining of scent"
underscoring our dedication to the meticulous craft of perfumery as a transformative art,
much like the ancient practice of alchemy.
